Who we are

A mother and son,
a decade of thrifting.

Lost & Found started the way most good ideas do β€” out of something we were already doing anyway. For over a decade, Noah and Nita have been hitting op shops and markets across Auckland together, building a genuine eye for quality clothing and a real dislike for good pieces ending up in landfill.

We started this business because we saw a gap: people with bags of quality clothing and no good way to move it on. We're filling that gap β€” and paying people while we do it.

Where it started

Ten years of op shops, markets, and knowing what's worth keeping.

Long before Lost & Found existed, Noah and Nita were regulars at op shops and clothing markets across Auckland. What started as a shared hobby turned into a genuine expertise β€” an eye for quality, an understanding of what sells, and a frustration with how much good clothing gets thrown away.

That shared history is the foundation of everything we do. Every collection we assess, every piece we pull out and say "this is worth something" β€” that instinct comes from years of doing it for fun before we ever did it for business.

Noah's background

Years in surf and skate retail β€” knowing what moves and what lasts.

Noah spent years working in surf and skate fashion retail, building a hands-on understanding of what makes clothing valuable: the brands that hold their worth, the silhouettes that stay relevant, the quality markers that separate a piece worth reselling from one that isn't.

That retail experience shapes how we grade every collection β€” particularly men's premium pieces like hoodies, fleeces, jackets, and anything surf, skate, or vintage. It's not guesswork; it's pattern recognition built over years on the shop floor.

The business today

Lost & Found β€” and The Arkhives.

Lost & Found is our free collection service β€” we come to you, assess your clothing on the spot, pay you for what we can rehome, and donate the rest to Dove Hospice in Glenn Innes and Pakuranga.

Quality pieces we collect find their second life through The Arkhives, our vintage resell store. It's a closed loop: your old clothing goes from your wardrobe to someone who'll genuinely wear it β€” and nothing ends up in landfill along the way.

What we stand for

Honest, straightforward, local.

🀝
Upfront about what we are
We're a for-profit resale business, and we say so. We think that's better for everyone β€” you know exactly what you're getting into, and the transaction is honest.

Nothing to landfill
Every piece leaves your door with somewhere to go. Quality clothing gets resold. Lower-value items go to Dove Hospice. Nothing sits in a bin, overflows onto the street, or gets thrown out.

Built in East Auckland
We're East Tamaki-based and proud of it. We prioritise pickups around East Auckland and the CBD β€” the communities we know best β€” and we donate locally too.

Dove Hospice

Clothing we can't resell goes directly to Dove Hospice β€” a cause close to home. They support families in our own backyard, and it feels right that clothing collected here stays in the community.

Our charity partner

Donated locally, always.

We're transparent: Lost & Found is a resale business. The money we make comes from reselling quality clothing, not from charity. But the clothing that can't be resold doesn't disappear β€” it goes to Dove Hospice in Glenn Innes and Pakuranga.

We're currently formalising a long-term partnership. Whatever that looks like, donated clothing will always go somewhere meaningful β€” not a bin, not landfill.
